5 Personal Training Marketing Ideas – To Grow Your Business
If you’re someone that has chosen to take the independent route to becoming a trainer, then you know how difficult it can be.
You’re in charge of the finances, training, and most importantly, the marketing.Which is why I chose to write this article.
I have some personal training marketing ideas that may change the way you think about how you should go about building your personal training business.
Because let’s be honest, success in this profession requires out of the box thinking. No longer can a personal trainer rely on just training clients as a source of income.
It’s sad, but this is the reality of the business.
Having multiple streams of income is important to growing your business as a personal trainer. So here are 5 Marketing Strategies to do just that.
1. Build A Website
Way back when, the thought of building a website seemed only doable by tech geniuses.
But with technology advancing the way it has, things like coding are pretty much already done for you. All you have to do is drag and drop.
Think of your website like a storefront for your personal training business. Your site gives people a place to enter to get to know you better.
You can set it up how you like, giving visitors options on what they want to buy.
With billions of people using the internet everyday, having a website gives you an opportunity to attract their attention.
Assuming you know how to attract visitors of course. But with the right training, it’s possible to get your business in front of a lot of eyeballs.
Having a website allows you to create multiple streams of income for your business.
Removing the need of having to rely on just once source of income which would be training clients.
Building a site is one of if not the best way to market your business if done correctly.
2. Social Media
Looking for an inexpensive way to spread the word about your business, using social media platforms are a great way to do that.
It costs you zero dollars to promote, and is one of the quickest ways to spread the word around.
Of course you want to make sure you’re joining the most popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
And being that your profession is very visual, YouTube is one platform you want to get familiar with.
Also, if you had a website, you can also connect your social media accounts to your website. Giving your social media followers a place to go to once they’ve noticed your post.
3. Build And Email List
In this line of business, keeping in touch with potential and former clients is key to making sure your business continues to grow.
One way to do that is by building an email list.
Being able to provide your list with information about your business, will make sure you continue to stay relevant.
You can send information in regards to health or new deals you may have when it comes to training.
It’s also important to make sure you keep them up to date because you never know what triggers them to become your future client.
Having a website is also a great way to build your email list as well. You can offer a free gift in exchange for their email address.
This is a great strategy for anyone looking to build up their email list for potential future business.
4. Ask For Referrals
There’s no better way to gain a client then by getting referred to.
So don’t be afraid to ask current clients if they have any friends or family members that are looking to get in shape.
If they’re getting great results from your training, then there’s no reason why you wouldn’t be able to do the same for their friend or family member.
You can even offer up ways to incentivize your clients to refer people they know.
For example, offer free sessions to anyone that happens to bring someone in they know for a training session.
This can also be a great way to boost traffic for your business.
5. Start Blogging
Although this method doesn’t require you to have a website, it’s highly recommended if you’re serious about growing your business.
The reason is, google loves sites who create content aimed at helping solve people’s problems.
The more content you create, the higher google will rank you in their searches. And being a personal trainer, helping people is kinda what you do.
Making it easier for you to build up your site with helpful information.
The more people you are able to help with your blog articles, the greater the potential they will become your customers.
And with so many people using the internet daily, that is a lot of customers for you to grab a hold of.
If you’re not sure what to write about, there are tools out there that tell you what people are searching.
Using keywords, you can find out exactly what people are searching for, and provide a solution to these questions.
Choosing A Niche Will Be Important When Coming Up With Marketing Strategies For Your Business
What makes the fitness industry so great is the many options a trainer has in terms of fitness.
Whether it be weight loss, muscle building, or rehabilitation, you have a bunch of fitness niches where you can make some good money.
So instead of trying to master them all, focus on being an expert on a few of these fitness niches.
The reason being is to not spread yourself too thin as you market yourself as an expert in these areas.
If weight loss is your focus, then educate people on all the ways one could effectively lose weight. You will find that more people will come to you as the expert in that area.
Instead of being the trainer that seems to think they know it all when it comes to fitness and health.
You will also learn that weight loss can branch off into other niche areas. For example, building muscle is a very effective way to lose weight quicker.
So you can still market yourself as someone that understands how important building muscles can be without having to focus your marketing too much on it.
With More and More People Using The Internet Everyday, Having a Website Is Key
You are missing out on a huge opportunity to increase your earnings if you’re not using the internet.
Instead of relying on just the clients you see in person, you should be focusing on the customers you could be servicing online.
As a certified trainer myself, I know how frustrating it can be to have clients cancel on you.
At the same time, having too many clients can cause you to burn out. With the internet, you don’t have to worry about burn out.
As a trainer, you’re pretty much limited in the amount of clients you can see. Therefore you’re income will be limited as well.
The internet allows you to make money, and then scale that money to potentially increase earnings.
So how can one take advantage of the potential the internet has to offer to help grow your business?
Building a website of course.
Once Your Website Is Built, You Need to Learn How to Attract Visitors to It
Having a website allows potential clients/customers a place to stop by and see what you have to offer.
Not only does a site allow you to market yourself as a trainer, but it allows you to recommend products and services.
As a trainer, you probably get many questions about what you would recommend to help improve one’s health.
So why not make some money from these recommendations. There are programs out there that will pay you a commission for anyone you recommend a product or service to.
But before you’re able to monetize your website, you first have to learn how to drive traffic to it.
The most cost effective way to do this is by creating quality content on your site.
The more content you create, the more google will like your site and improve your rankings within their search engine.
If you’re able to get your articles atop the searches of google, the more people you will have visiting your site.
The More People You’re Able to Attract and Help, the More Opportunities There Is to Make Money
Just like when you’re trying to sell a potential client on working with you, you have to sell them on how you can help them reach their fitness goals.
If you show yourself as someone that’s all about the sale, more than likely the person will choose not to work with you.
Well the online world works the same way.
If someone comes to your site and doesn’t feel you can help them with their problem, then they won’t buy from you.
So the first thing you need to always make sure of is providing the visitor with a solution to their problem.
If you can do that, they will make sure to reward you for your help. This is a very crucial part of having a website as apart of your personal training business.
Instead of having to rely on clients showing up for their appointments, you can have a website generate income for you 24/7.
This is a great way to supplement the income you make from training clients in person.
When coming up with ideas on how to market your personal training business, it helps to think outside the box a bit.
I’m sure your first thought is how to get more clients to train, but you have to think bigger than that.
As you get older, you don’t want to have to be training clients to make a living right?
So it’s important to find a way to create revenue that doesn’t require you to use up too much energy.
And building a website is a great way to do it.
So if you’re interested in learning how to build a website that can help supplement your personal training business, I suggest you get the right training.
