When it comes to business, reputation is everything.

Companies that have spent years branding themselves as someone you can trust is key to staying in business for years to come.

So when thinking about joining an MLM business, it’s important to choose a company that has been in the game a while.

One company in particular is Avon. But regardless of their solid reputation, many still believe that it is a scam.

So why is this the case? Well in this review, I plan on going over everything you need to know about Avon.

Things like their background information, cost to join, and if it is possible to make money with them.

By the end of this, you should have a better idea if this company is worth joining or not.

What Is Avon?

When it comes to the MLM world, Avon is one of the biggest companies out there in terms of sales.

In fact they are number two on the list of largest MLM companies in the world, with Amway being number one.

Founded in 1886 by David McConnell, who started selling perfume before creating Avon.

To help grow his business, he partnered with a man named Alexander Henderson.

Before naming the company Avon in 1932, the company was first named Perfume Company in 1894.

Located in London, the person who is now leading the company is Sheri McCoy.

Amazingly, Avon employs over 6.5 million members around the world and has earned $5.7 billion in revenue.

Avon Product Line

If you didn’t know, Avon operates in the cosmetic and personal care niche. You can find their products in many retail stores around the world.

They also market products in the following categories below:

  1. Makeup
  2. Skincare
  3. Bath & Body
  4. Fragrance
  5. Jewelry
  6. Fashion

Avon has a wide variety of products for customers to buy. They pretty much dominate the cosmetic space.

Do The Products Work?

Avon wouldn’t be one of the largest cosmetic companies if consumers didn’t find their products useful.

But with any product or service, you will find those that love it, but you can also find people that don’t.

Some users have said that they had an allergic reaction to their products and also products losing color.

But this is pretty much normal for most cosmetic brands. I think most people purchase Avon due to their brand power.

Not to say that they have low quality products, which they clearly don’t, but I’m sure you could find other products on the same level.

How To Make Money With Avon?

Like most MLM companies, there’s only so many ways in which you can make money.

Those ways are:

  1. Selling products that the company provides and receiving a commission that can increase depending on your rankings.
  2. Recruiting others to sell products where you can then receive commission from those under you.

Avon is no different. As a distributor, you are given the right to sell the products I’ve listed above.

If you want to make even more money, then recruit others to do the same.

How To Get Started With Avon?

The cost to join and become an affiliate is $10, which for me is the lowest fee I’ve seen with any MLM business.

However, you will have to purchase your own marketing materials and products which you can sell for profit.

They also have starter kits available for you to buy, but you will have to check and see if it’s available in your market.

  • Quick Starter Kit - $25: with products valued at $80
  • Advanced Starter Kit - $50: with products valued at $140
  • Premium Starter Kit - $100: with products valued at $400

Avon Compensation Plan

MLM compensation plans are usually confusing, but Avon is pretty clear. You get paid based on product sales and the sales of your team.

Representative Commissions

This is usually where most see an opportunity to make a lot of money. Regardless of whether you or your team makes a sale, you all make money.

And your commission percentage is dependent on the sale amount. I’m guessing this is for each month.

So the more you sell, the bigger commission split you will receive.

Just keep in mind that this is dependent on you maintaining a monthly sales level.

For instance, to receive the 40% commission split, you have to sell $500 worth of products each month.

Qualified Recruit Bonus

This bonus is paid every time a member brings someone new into the business.

There’s an additional $20 bonus each time this new member makes a purchase of $150 or more within the first two campaigns.

You would receive this bonus on top of other bonuses you qualify for.

Sponsor Bonus

You receive this bonus when any member sells $50 or more in a campaign.

Everyone receives the 3% sponsoring bonus for every personal sale made by all representatives.

This is also paid out on top of any bonuses that you qualify for.

Promotion Bonus

This is where it pays to grow your team. As you build out your team, you advance to certain tiers.

As you can see, moving up to Bronze Ambassador, you will earn $500.

Bonuses are paid in four equal installments and in order to receive the bonus is by maintaining tier requirements.

Generation Bonus

The stronger your team is, the more money you can earn. This incentives you to make sure you are putting productive people on your team.

As you advance in tiers, your commission percentages increase.

This also benefits you if your team can reach these levels as well. If they continue to perform, the team as a whole benefits from higher earnings.

What I Like About Avon

#1. It’s Cheap To Get Started

Compared to most MLM companies, the cost to join Avon is very affordable.

The only thing you have to worry about is getting all your marketing material to help you sell the product.

This allows you to choose how much you spend when it comes to promoting your business.

There are other MLMs that require you to purchase a certain amount of products which can quickly put you in the hole.

#2. The Company Has Been Around For A Long Time

What makes this company so strong is the long standing reputation.

The fact that they’ve been around so long let’s you know that you’re dealing with a company that is legit.

It’s hard to call a company that’s been in the game for as long as Avon has a scam.

What I Don’t LIke About Avon

#1.Additional Financial Investments

The reason why the cost to join is so low is due to all the materials you will have to buy once you get started.

Things like marketing materials, business cards, flyers, website, etc. Are these things mandatory?

No. but if you plan on competing in this industry, it helps to make sure you are giving yourself the best chance of succeeding.

Therefore making sure you have the proper tools is important. Remember, this is a business, so you have to factor in costs of running your business.

#2. Slow Transition To Higher Levels

Being successful in this business is going to take a lot of hustle.

Because moving up can take quite a while, it’s important to make sure you are hitting certain sales levels.

If you don’t think you have the personality to push for sales, then you might find yourself having a difficult time in this business.

#3. Members ARe Losing Money

Is Avon A Scam?

Avon has been around for too long to be considered a scam.

They do provide people who are looking to get into business with an opportunity to earn an income.

The brand rivals some of the biggest companies in the world and this is evidenced by their longevity.

Avon allows members to have full control over their business and how it’s run.

However I wouldn’t recommend that you join this company because the likelihood of you being successful is very low.

You have to be someone that is willing to grind really hard to make it worth your while.

So if you’re not someone that willing to bust their butt, then you might want to look elsewhere.
